For 31 years we have delivered highly successful summer school courses from one to three weeks in duration and these will continue for boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18 years.
BCSSA offers courses in:
- Soccer Intensive Summer Camps
- Soccer and English Language Summer Camp
- Tours and programmes for teams/groups – these can be arranged throughout the year.
All of our courses utilise our unique Soccer Theme Park coaching equipment, which includes dribbling mannequins, free kick walls, mini arenas and even speed guns to test shot speed. For our football intensive courses and team visits we can also offer a full sport science service including physical and psychological testing.
While motivated by the soccer-related studies, all of our students are expected to apply themselves industriously to their academic choices. Using the theme of soccer our English Language lessons are specifically designed to enhance the language development of all our students.
At every stage, we employ well-qualified, experienced staff to ensure that all participants are motivated to reach their optimum level of performance and have a thoroughly enjoyable time.
The venue for our residential programme is Myerscough College, which is situated near Preston in the North West of England. Preston is less than 1 hour’s drive from Central Manchester. Full details regarding Myerscough College are enclosed in the pack.

COURSE CONTENT
SOCCER
The soccer course will be comprehensive, covering all elements of the game, from basic techniques through to strategy and tactics. All participants will be expected to take an active role in this element, so it is advised that students have a good level of fitness before they attend.
Evaluations can be made in terms of the player’s technical ability and we will also use the very latest high tech equipment currently being used by many Premier league teams to provide a measure of a player’s physical ability. This sport science support is unique to BCSSA.
Study of the practical elements of the game will be supported by theoretical aspects, with practical applications, such as anatomy and physiology, nutrition and psychology.
All participants will be given the opportunity to play in games against local opposition. We do get many elite players visiting the school and our most famous past pupil was David Beckham for whom we set up a trial with Manchester United.
LANGUAGE: Summer School
During language lessons, besides being taught the fundamentals of English grammar and its use, lessons focus on communication and practice. The English Language lessons are tailored towards Soccer, this allows youngsters to study though a medium they thoroughly enjoy and in which they are both knowledgeable and confident.
Each course is centred around the needs of each pupil and the standards that are aimed for each realistic and attainable. With all elements of the programme, the early section will be used to ascertain existing levels of performance and from that an individualised learning programme will be arranged.
All aspects of the programme will be delivered in truly international classes with many opportunities to mix and converse with British youngsters, on the football pitch and more informally in a social environment.
ACCOMMODATION MYERSCOUGH COLLEGE
Myerscough College is situated near Preston in Lancashire, 10 minutes drives from the M55 / M6 junction.
The College is modern University type campus and has excellent facilities on site including a high standard of residential accommodation, excellent grass playing surfaces, a full size astro turf pitch, large sports hall, and a 9 hole golf course. The college infact boasts a golf academy and horse riding stables.
Laundry
Personal clothing can be washed and dried using the machines available. These are coin-operated and cost £2 per wash and £2 per dry.
Fire drillstake place on a regular basis.
Damages.
All rooms and common areas are regularly checked for damages, and individuals who cause damage to any property on the site will be liable for the cost of repairs.
PASTORAL
Through our organisation we have a wealth of experience in caring for children who visit our courses on a residential basis. We appreciate that parents who entrust their children to our care need total reassurance regarding their happiness, welfare and safety.
Our staff are well-qualified in their areas of expertise but, more importantly, are selected for their ability to relate to children and young adults.
The structure of each course will be demanding and rewarding, but will also include leisure and cultural activities which will give all participants the opportunity for individual development in international awareness and understanding.
Our short-term courses, such as summer schools, are designed to ensure that there is always a staff presence with younger students.
VALUABLES
All students are advised not to bring with them elements of personal belongings that are valuable and expensive. As a company BCSSA do not have insurance cover for personal belongings. Students are also advised to utilise the ‘Bank’ that BCSSA operates at all its courses, this ensures that all personal belongings are looked after. Information regarding this service will be made available on arrival.
TRANSFER INFORMATION
BCSSA provides a negotiated transfer service from Manchester International Airport to Myerscough College. All transfer must be pre-arranged. After collecting their luggage, students proceed through customs. Students are then met by a representative of BCSSA who will be displaying a prominent sign. From here students will be transported to their residential BCSSA centre. Although we understand that you are tied with flights however, we would appreciate that you arrange for flights that arrive mid afternoon or early evening. Late flights means a late arrival at the College and tired children.
IMPORTANT
It is of vital importance that all necessary flight details are sent to us with the booking form. We need the exact flight information, including dates, airlines, flight numbers and flight times. This service must be booked no later that 2 weeks prior to the start of the course.
Removal of students
BCSSA have the right to request parents to remove an applicant from the programme where, in the opinion of the course director such action is in the interest of the applicant or of the programme. There will be no refund of fees for the balance of the term when such a request has been made.
The decision to request removal of the pupil from the programme and the manner and form of any curtailment is left entirely to the sole discretion of the BCSSA course director. Under no circumstances shall the organisation be required to divulge to parents any confident information or the identities of other applicants or others that have given information, which has led to the request, which the BCSSA Director has acquired during an investigation.
